This book is a little different
This is a very poignant book for me. It’s been 8 years in the making and it’s been conceived, written and produced by one of my oldest friends. Balwinder Kapila.
I met Atul and Balwinder while we were still at school – yes, that long ago. Atul had come from Kenya where he lived with his brother and sister, along with his parents. They settled in Hounslow and his parents still live there today.
Atul and Bal met in their late teens and were married shortly after. They had 3 children and tragically, about 8 years ago, one of the boys, Aman, died in his teens. It was a seminal moment for the family and affected a great number of people deeply.
And in memory of his short life, Balwinder set about writing a cookbook. It’s a touching storey and it also took over her life for some years! And a little before Christmas 2018, the book was finally published.
It’s not only a great Indian cookbook, but it also has a much deeper meaning too.
I hope you might buy a copy!
